SPIRTITUAL GROWTH

Our relationship with the Lord can always be improved and we should be seeking spiritual growth in our walk with Christ daily! When we feel comfortable in our faith is when the Devil tries to sneak in and attack us from growing our relationship and spreading our love for Christ. We are all at different levels within our relationship, but that doesn’t mean that anyone’s relationship is stronger than others. The thing that is so fascinating about growing our relationship with Christ is that there are soooo many ways to do so. God created us all differently so there is no perfect way to worship or serve him. We were all created unique but with one goal: to spread his love!

In this blog post I would like to show a few of the basic ways that you can personally develop a stronger and long lasting relationship with your Creator based upon your personal interests. I hope you enjoy this and can find your niche!

GROWTH FOR THE MUSIC ENTHUSIASTS

When I listen to music I want the volume to be so loud it completely consumes my entire soul. I know others must feel the same way especially with worship music. The best way for some to feel most connected with God is when they completely focus on the truth behind lyrics no matter if it is in a car ride home or in a pew in the middle of a crowded church. Some cling to God while raising their hands up and giving him all of the praise. If you are one of these people then one of the best things for you is to make a playlist to listen to throughout your day to constantly fill yourself with truth and joy. Not only does Christian music put you in a good mood, but i makes it so much easier to meditate on and spread this everlasting love. It is so easy to get the contagious melodies stuck in your head.

“My heart, O God is steadfast; I will sing and make music with all of my soul” PSALMS 108:1

GROWTH FOR THOSE WHO SEEK AFFIRMATION

Other people desire constant affirmation for their worth. If you are one of these people, you can find the joy of the Lord by reading the truth that is dispersed all throughout the bible. Reading Ephesians or Psalms can give you a spiritual insight on how you are chosen and redeemed. When you stop looking in the mirror and start diving into the truth to find your worth and love is when you will be set free. By reading these specific chapters you can see that your identity is already predestined and you are so worthy to your creator. Another way to deepen your relationship is tuning into podcasts in your downtime or on your way to work .

“But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them- yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.” 1 CORINTHIANS 15:10

GROWTH FOR THE HISTORY ENTHUSIAST OR WRITER

Some people fixate on history and the backstory of everything. If you’re someone that is fascinated by the historical aspects of life then reading the old testament first would be a really good start for you. After reading these chapters, you can then fast forward 400 years to see all of God’s promises being fulfilled. Reflecting on these promising historical moments can increase your faith and your trust in God. If you love history then reading the gospels can bring your faith to life. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John portray the image of Jesus very vividly yet differently. Studying these gospels can give you both historical and biblical attributes. A simple way to communicate with God every day is writing down your prayers at the end of the day. The cool thing about this method is you can look back at some of your written prayers and reflect on how much you have grown and what you are still struggling with. While your faith can not be measured, it is good to look back on old prayers and see all of God’s promises coming into fruition. Another way to strengthen your faith if you love writing is taking notes throughout sermons or in your personal studying. Making quick notes in a journal or in the margins of your bible can help you focus on your relationship and can be a reminder when you come across them one day.

“The tablets were the work of God; the writing was the writing of God, engraved on the tablets.” EXODUS 32:16

GROWTH FOR THE INTROVERT

Quiet time is good for the soul and mind but most importantly for spiritual growth. If you are someone who doesn’t enjoy socializing or simply enjoys alone time then quiet growth might be the most beneficial form to deepen your personal connection with God. If you are one of these people then reserving time in the morning or night to read through the word in the stillness of your own home can be very beneficial for you. Starting a plan on the bible app can strengthen your faith while not even coming into contact with anybody!

“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen.” MATTHEW 6:6

GROWTH FOR THE EXTROVERT

While others enjoy their quiet personal time with God, others enjoy feeding off of other people’s relationship with Christ. Some of us were created to build our relationship with Christ while strengthening relationships with those around us. If you are a social butterfly or just someone who enjoys company everyone once in a while then leaning towards a discipleship partner or joining a small group could benefit your spiritual and social life. God rejoices in his children gathering together in his name! Don’t be afraid to reach out to someone older or younger than you to start discipleship with. With a discipleship partner you can study God’s word together and direct each other in the right direction. A small group works in the same way expect you gather with a larger group of people to learn more about God while connecting with eachother.

“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” MATTHEW 18:20

GROWTH FOR THE NATURALIST

If you are someone that is happiest while going on long hikes or feeling the sunshine on your face, then growing your relationship with God can be deepened in many ways. As your are exploring the beautiful waters and wondrous mountains then you can deepen your relationship by truly embracing his grace. Watching a sunset, looking at the stars, and watching the clouds go by are all ways to notice God’s beauty. Taking time out of your day to be still and enjoy His creation makes your Father in Heaven so delighted.

“In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him.” PSALMS 95:4

The bottom line is there no perfect way to grow your relationship with Christ or spread your love for him. We should be finding new ways to deepen our relationship with him and find what is best for us! Personal growth with our Savior can not be measured, but can grow every single day of your life.

No matter what your daily life looks like, there is always time to find your way to worship and learn. I hope you can find not only a routine, but a lifestyle that will root your relationship in the One that matters most.
